This week’s playlist update has been chosen by the fantastic, Hior Chronik.

Descent – the Greek producer’s sixth solo album out via Ki Records – is largely influenced by the Berlin music scene and culture as well as everyday life there. “I was moving a lot between Athens and Berlin and I was feeling undecided where my home is. Home is a returning back to the place I was feeling safe and closer to myself” says Hior of the track ‘Back Home’. It’s all about simple everyday pleasures like a late night walk along the river Spree, reflected in rich textures of ‘Spree at night’. (Words from Hior Chronik).

One track from Descent is featured in Hior’s playlist update, alongside his own choices.

Hior’s choices:

Lovesong – Max Cooper
Dream Voyager – CUTS
ELL (Christian Löffler Rework) – Martin Kohlstedt
Waiting – Lavalu
Falling – Angus MacRae
Looped – Kiasmos
Make Sense – Hior
Yr Love – Holy Other
Untravel – Rival Consoles
Cosmos – Hazy
A Snowflake – Peter Broderick

Born in 1974 in Athens, Hior Chronik, has always been surrounded by music. As a child, he would listen to classical music and jazz on the radio and would write down his favourite tracks in his little notebook. But it was his work as a radio producer at the JazzFm station in Athens and as an editor of several music magazines that really accelerated his development as an artist, and led to him finding his true calling. Hior started to experiment with melodies and rhythms and so the first minimalist ambient piano patterns were born, which were later combined with electronica and vocals. “It was a process to discover my hidden charisma” he states. (Words from Hior Chronik)
